可插拔 M.2-2280 固态硬盘输入设备 - 键盘需要一些时间适应，功能键也很恼人戴尔决定采用 XPS 13 Plus 的键盘设计，在新款 XPS 14 中也安装了按键之间没有任何缝隙的键盘。键盘本身略微凹陷，打字时感觉很舒适，按键也很精确。不过，也存在其他一些问题，因为我们经常会按错键，而且键盘肯定需要一些时间来适应。垂直方向的小键也很烦人，如果手指稍大，就很难按到，而且大键（空格键、回车键）发出的声音明显更大。电源键（包括指纹扫描仪）位于右上方，也就是你期望找到删除键的地方，这就带来了下一个问题。

我们在键盘背光方面遇到了一个问题，因为触摸栏照明在不活动时会关闭，但在播放视频数小时而没有任何输入时却不会关闭。键盘的亮度也是通过传感器不断调节的，你无法影响其强度--至少我们没有找到一个选项。传感器也不关心照明是否在不久前被手动关闭；只要照明条件稍有变化，照明就会被重新激活。
输入设备
键盘背光您可以从红外图像上看到触摸板的大小。触摸板完全与掌托融为一体，你无法辨别它的起点和终点。触摸板使用了整个掌托的高度，宽度从左 Alt 键的中间一直延伸到新的 Co-Pilot 键上方。总的来说，触摸板运行良好，触觉反馈均匀流畅，但如果离开触摸板区域或开始动作时稍稍偏离实际触摸板区域，我们偶尔会遇到问题。不过，与触摸条相比，这只是一个小问题。选配的 OLED 面板也配备了电容式触摸屏，而且效果非常好。

温度XPS 14 的表面温度没有任何问题。在怠速运行和执行要求不高的任务时，金属外壳几乎不会发热，即使在满载的情况下，我们也只在设备底部后部中间区域测得约 42 ℃ 的最高温度。当然，这个温度还是很明显的，不过，把笔记本放在大腿上还是可以的。我们在底座顶部测得的最高温度约为 40 °C，而键盘区域的温度仍然较低，因此在打字时不会受到任何限制。
